Taming the Trolls: Harassment and Defamation in Community Associations nominated for CAI San Diego’s Educational Program of the Year.

The community association industry has shifted how owners and residents treat volunteer directors, management, and even business partners. The rise of social media, the ability to hide behind the internet, and a growing sense of entitlement results in owners saying whatever they want, believing there are no consequences for their actions. Our volunteer directors and community managers receive the brunt of this conduct at meetings, in emails, and through social media. This program will address:

· All aspects of harassment

· When free speech becomes defamation

· Addressing these issues through the legal process or other means

· Helpful tools
